‘An equal chance’: Jasmine Holinaty of West Fraser on #WomenInForestry

When West Fraser LVL employee Jasmine Holinaty was in school at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) for power engineering, she wondered if she was cut out to work in the field.
But, as she says in the Alberta Forest Products Association (AFPA)’s recent #WomenInForestry social media campaign, she stuck with the program and had no regrets.
“I’ve never really been a quitter, so I just pushed through,” she says. “In forestry they give every woman, man, an equal chance – as long as you’re willing to work towards it and show that you have ideas.”
Now Holinaty is a third-class power engineer at the lumber facility and says that what impresses her about the forest products sector is how much people care about what they do.
